Sean Reilly's given us all a nice Christmas present in the form of the first beta release of the new 2007 edition of the popular Moneydance Personal Finance Application:
I am pleased to announce the first beta release of Moneydance 2007! This release includes many improvements to the interface, a whole new budget manager, new and updated graphs/reports (using the open-source jFreeChart), investment improvements and numerous bug fixes.
Already I'm liking the UI improvements, such as the quick-view budget bars at the top of the main window which shows at a quick glance how close to your chosen budget you are:

As well as the budget-bars is the new recent expenses chart:

The chart shows a graphical breakdown of your recent spending, as you can see the holiday period hasn't been kind to me making my "personal:dining" category sitting above the more important expenses of groceries, power, and phone. I think the new year will see me making strong use of the budgeting features of Moneydance...
