myjabber.net transports offline...
jabber xmpp google gmail
For the last week or so I've noticed that myjabber.net's MSN, ICQ, and AOL transports have been offline with no response from the support email address. I know I can't really complain about a free service but, wait - yes I can :( Responding to the support@ email would be a start at least (something beyond the automated response that appeared 5 seconds after I sent the email).

So anyway, I'm thinking of just moving everything over to use Google Talk - anyone know of any servers running (stable) transports one could hook into a Google Talk account?

I have a transport at jabber.joshottley.com It's been pretty stable, as long as I don't get bogged down. Sadly i cant use it with my google apps for your domain accounts, but you all are free to use it. heh.
Hello Mark,
our hardware on which the transports were running died. This is the reason why they are currently offline. We are also working on a sever software update. Once the server is updated we plan to bring the transports back online with the new py-transports.yep, i'm having exactly the same problem, i wrote about it here: http://linux4all.blogsome.com/2006/11/23/jabber-transports So, stable transports anyone?
I am using my Gtalk Account with an PyICQ gateway from nedbsd.nl. Before I used a transport from another server but this server closed the usage of the transport for other servers so I had to switch. I never realized any problems, running this transport over my Gtalk Account. My ICQ Contacts even appear in the webinterface of gmail and the behavior is also normal. Maybe I miss something but the only problems I realized is that servers with free to all gateways are not easy to find.
So my short answer: Check services at nedbsd.nl.I'm using Google Apps for your domain to use GTalk with my domain name and I'm not having any problens with public transports. Try to use transports from jaim.at, I'm happy with they
Google Talk used to behave really weird when using transports. I'm not sure if it's still the same, but I doubt that they changed their routing policy of messages coming from external servers. Google Talk also behaves very strange on Multi-User Chats. So while I would recommend Talk to anyone who doesn't know anything about Jabber, I would not recommend it to Jabber 'power users'. You're probably better of finding a stable server with stable transports. The downside being that you don't have it integrated with GMail (if you have GMail). If I would still like to switch to Google Talk, despite the down sides, I would consider using 'Google Apps for your domain'. That way, I have a JID in the domain I want, and I can still choose to migrate to some other piece of software if i wanted to (provided that I have my own server).
myJabber has released the newest version of it's client. The new version is still free and comes packed with myJabberAE softphone. The myJabberIM v5.0 is built on XMPP and has conference rooms, gateways, Emoticons, presence management....... The new version is cleaner and faster then the old version and I like it alot. For a free IM you can't go wrong with myJabberIM. As far as the phone goes I have heard talk about myjabber.org offering a very low cost calling plan for all myJabber.org users. The best thing to do is go to www.myjabber.org and register to take advantage of the forums, blogs, and free stuff.
