The philosophy of Tyre Travel

posted Saturday, 13 December 2003
The tyres on my car have been threadbare for ages, such that I was amazing I got my warrant the other month, but with Christmas travel soon to be upon me I thought I best get the tires done now, so off I troddle to Hyper Tyres, who - other than being owned by a friend, also had the best prices and service. Woohoo - I now have four spanking new tires, and again more debt. Whilst waiting I had an amusing discussion with another guy also waiting "I swear, the moment my son turned 15 and got his car, I also aged 15 years!", chuckling to myself I asked if he'd give up the kid for his 15 years back which resulted with "never, I love my kid, I gave up 2 businesses, my life, and moved here for my children, he's a kiwi now.", "I hope he appreciates what you've done for him..." I replied - "mmm, he will in time." the older man closed with. I think back to all the things my own parents sacrificed and gave up for me growing up - I didn't really appreciate it then, but I sure as hell do now... Sadly, on the way home from the tire shop I pulled over by a plain clothes cop for speeding - once again doing 80kph in the industrial area - sure, the speed is 80kph on ONE side of the lights, but not the other. They're apparantly signed, but I honestly swear I never saw them. So once again I've got another $300 fine, and another 40demerit points. Which leaves me with 20 to spare; heres hoping I don't get pulled over for going too SLOW next time - now, if Matt pays his rent I won't have to worry as much ( well, about the fine at least ).
