Mark Derricutt's Disturbing Thoughts

Whangarei Roadtrip

posted Monday, 18 December 2006

Last weekend saw another trip north to Whangarei to visit Shelley, along with christmas bbq's and the building up of christmas tree decorations (no photo sadly) we tripped around to some of the local sites including the Subtropical Quarry Gardens, and Whangarei Falls (not sure of the official name):

Subtropical Quarry Gardens

Hidden away about 5 minutes out of the city, the Whangarei Quarry Gardens hide a quiet escape from civilisation. Whilst we were sitting just down from the lake, we had birds casually walk past ignoring us in their hunt for food...

Whangarei Falls

Whilst at the falls a group of children were swimming and diving from the trees and swing rope, thou the youngest lad played up to the camera and demanding we take photos, he also refused to actually jump.
