Severe Emotional Distress
emo cutting youtube music video metal
"Severe Emotional Distress" by Into Eternity is easily one of my favorite songs of the moment right now.
The track comes off the recent "A Scattering of Ashes" CD and features one of the most messed up progressive arrangements I've heard in ages: a soaringly high melodic chorus, scathing black metal versus, and a throat retching death metal bridge - all wrapped up with blast beats, percussive fills, and solos to make any air guitar artist jump around his lounge with glee.
As with a lot of metal songs the lyrics deal with issues that are often controversial and not talked about - in this case: self mutilation as pain relief. I'd love to say something profound or deep about the subject but I don't know enough about it to comment, so I'll just leave things with the music video and lyrics:
Cutting yourself to relieve the pain,
Try to believe that you are sane,
Self mutilation for self redemption,
Now you're on your own.Cutting yourself your despondency,
Mental distress overwhelming now,
Cold blunt steel now is critical,
Now you're on your own.Severe emotional distress
Seperate the anguish,
Seperate this fear,
Seperate from sadness,
Now I see things much too clear.Cutting yourself a dependency,
Anxiety mixed with agony,
Bleed out the grief with a knife,
Now you're on your own.Cutting yourself end this wretchedness,
Tribulation will not finish this,
Lacerations cannot help you,
Now you're on your own.Seperate the anguish,
Seperate this fear,
Seperate from sadness,
Now I see things much too clear.Comments (0)
