Unfold the future - redux.

I was thinking on last nights post whilst I slept, companies go through highs and lows, they have problems, both $PREVIOUS_EMPLOYER's are still going strong despite the problem they had, and I'm sure $EMPLOYER will as well. I was reminded of this as I rode the bus to work, coming through New Market I saw an old guy wearing a sandwich board - I've seen him before but not for many years. The sandwich board read "Thanks Mum, I'm alive" - it was an anti-abortion message, but it struck me as having meaning to my own life, and last nights post. Don't wait for the future to unfold around you - strive to make your OWN future with the resources and abilities you have. It may be a hard battle, it may seem worthless at times, but in this post .COM era I'm glad to be able to say "Thanks Mum, I'm employed". We make our own futures, are we're in a position to influence, and shape other peoples futures. We may not aggree 100% with those above us, but thats life, nothing in this earthly world is perfect, and we don't just have to deal with it. Ozzy Osbourne once sung "I don't want to change the world, I just want the world to change." - I don't want to the change the world, but I definitely want to change the world around me - let the butterfly effect take hold. The other month I applied for membership to the Jabber Software Foundation, and whilst I've not heard anything directly, I just saw a MailMan automated "welcome to the list" email, and found this post in the list archives. Most excellent, that's something to brighten the day, its a little piece of future unfolding around me, and hopefully, I can influence, assist, promote, and unfold something of my own from it. The weather outside may be crap today, but in here, this world looks a little brighter today.
