Users are stupid

posted Tuesday, 26 July 2005
A support call just came through the office:
"I've downloaded your desktop SMS sending application and saved it to my desktop, but everytime I double click on it, it runs an installer and doesn't send a message, how do I fix this?"
DOH. Why are users so stupid?

A number of installers have an option that is enabled by default to run the program after installing. Maybe yours could do that.

This particular user might not appear to be bright, but maybe they are just ignorant of where to find applications on their system. You might as well help them, and it's a nice UI option to have anyway.

isn't that a valid complain?

why do I have to install it? I get it and put it on my desktop, what do you mean by 'install'?

actually why do I have to download it in the first place? why do you software geeks make everthing so hard for something so simple?
